Natural Cholesterol Balance
StatiQinon from Pharma Nord contains co-enzyme Q10, red yeast rice, and ALA (alpha-linolenic acid).
While cholesterol is a natural constituent of all cell membranes, it is generally recognised that cholesterol levels must not exceed established healthy limits. Genetic factors and lifestyle choice such as a diet with too much saturated fat, lack of exercise, and being overweight, can lead to an increase in so-called “bad” cholesterol (LDL)
How does StatiQinon work?
StatiQinon helps to maintain a natural cholesterol balance using a combination of three important ingredients.
Coenzyme Q10 is found in the mitochondria (power house) of every cell and is responsible for the production of energy. Tissues with a high energy requirement such as the heart, muscles and liver contain more mitochondria within their cells.
Red yeast rice is a dietary staple in some Asian countries. Red yeast rice has 14 active compounds called monacolins.
ALA stands for “alpha-linolenic acid”, an essential fatty acid found in plants. The body does not produce ALA, though we can consume this from the diet. ALA contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol concentrations*.
*the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 2g of ALA.
Q10 and Statins
Coenzyme Q10 and cholesterol are both synthesized from the same substance in the body. This implies that if the body's production of cholesterol is reduced by a statin, the body's production of coenzyme Q10 is reduced accordingly.
