What is Bio-Garlic?

Garlic is a member of the onion family, used as a source of sulphur containing substances, which have beneficial effects within the body.

Our Garlic tablets each contain 300 mg of dried garlic powder, equivalent to 4.7 mg of the active compound (amino acid alliin) in an enterically coated form to ensure maximum bio-availability.

When alliin the active compound comes into contact with the enzyme alliinase, the substance allicin forms. Allicin garlic gives garlic its characteristic odor. Our Garlic supplements are odourless garlic tablets, preserving the active ingredients and their enzyme activity from the fresh garlic in manufacturing.

When the garlic tablets fully dissolve in the intestine after ingestion, the garlic enzyme allinase activates and converts the alliin to allicin garlic, thereby reducing the risk of garlic breath significantly. Furthermore, the delayed dissolution of the garlic tablets mean that the alliin and alliinase content is not broken down and inactivated in the stomach.

What do nutrient units mean?

Relative to the food we eat, the size of individual nutrients are actually incredibly small. As a result, we need to use units other than grammes (g) to describe them. Here’s what the common units for nutrients are:

Grammes (G)- often used to describe nutritional powders. Most teaspoons of powder weigh approximately 5g.

Beta-carotene (provitamin A): 1 IU is the equivalent of 0.6 μg of beta carotene
