When alliin the active compound comes into contact with the enzyme alliinase, the substance allicin forms. Allicin garlic gives garlic its characteristic odor. When the garlic tablets fully dissolve in the intestine after ingestion, the garlic enzyme allinase activates and converts the alliin to allicin garlic, thereby reducing the risk of garlic breath significantly. Furthermore, the delayed dissolution of the garlic tablets mean that the alliin and alliinase content is not broken down and inactivated in the stomach.
