Bio-InfluZinc + C - Lozenge with vitamin C and zinc for the immune system

    About Bio-InfluZinc + C

Bio-Influ-Zinc are pleasant lozenges with organically bound, bioavailable zinc and natural vitamin C in the form of Acerola cherry extract. The lozenges ensure fast delivery of the active ingredients to the mucous membranes in the oral cavity and throat. High, acute intake of Bio-Influ-Zinc may be useful for brief periods of 7-10 days, depending on the circumstances.

How does it work in the body?

Zinc is an essential mineral and a trace element that is primarily found in cells and, to a lesser extent, in extracellular fluids throughout the body (white and red blood cells contain a substantial amount of zinc). Together with copper, zinc is an important constituent of the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD), which helps protect our cells from damage.

Zinc has many different functions in the human body and supports about 200 different enzymes, including enzymes that are necessary for metabolizing nutrients and enzymes that are important for genetic coding. Zinc is important for a healthy immune system and protection from oxidative stress, as well as healthy skin hair and nails, vision, bones and vitamin A metabolism.

    Zinc - Competition for absorption

High intakes of calcium  and iron may reduce the body’s uptake of zinc.  This is because these minerals compete for absorption in the digestive tract.  Taking these kinds of supplements at different times of the day is advised to help avoid this.

    Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin which was given the name ascorbic acid when it was discovered, which means that it’s the acid that prevents the disease scurvy.  Much like Zinc, vitamin C contributes to a normal healthy immune system and helps protect the body from oxidative stress.  Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, able to regenerate our use of another antioxidant, Vitamin E.  Vitamin C supports healthy energy metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

    Acerola

A large (2-3 cm) cherry-like, pit-containing fruit that is cultivated in South America and the Caribbean. There are several different Acerola varieties. The wild fruit is rather sour, but Influ-Zinc contains a refined version.

Acerola’s vitamin C content is extremely high and provides about 1,500-3,000 mg of vitamin per. 100 g. In comparison, an orange may provide around 40-50 mg of vitamin C per 100 gram.

    Immunity support in research

Zinc-based lozenges (such as Bio-InfluZinc + C) have been shown to have significant benefits in shortening the duration of colds and flu.

In a paper published in Lancet, Zinc lozenges were shown to reduce the duration of colds by almost 50% 1.   It is proposed that zinc interrupts the ability of various pathogens to reproduce and spread within the body.
