Can intervention with Q10 and selenium slow down the ageing process, prevent cardiovascular disease, and perhaps improve quality of life?
A symposium for doctors, nurses, and health professionals
Location: QEII Centre, London
Ever since Dr. Peter Mitchell was awarded the Nobel Prize in biochemistry for his scientific work of Q10’s role in the electron transport chain, hundreds of scientific studies have been conducted and all point to this essential compound’s vital role in optimal cellular energy metabolism.
There has been particular focus on the cardiovascular system and more recent studies have looked at the combination of Q10 and selenium, an essential trace element that is crucial for survival.
The symposium will concentrate on this topic and take a closer look at the study results and their importance for heart health and ageing speed.

About Dr. Urban Alehagen
Dr Urban Alehagen is a Professor in Cardiology at the University of Linkoping, Sweden.
He is a specialist in internal medicine, cardiology, and odontology.
He is the principal investigator for the Kisel-10 study - where the effects of supplementation with selenium and coenzyme Q10 has been studied. First demonstrating the clinical positive effects and then investigating the effects on oxidative stress and inflammation by the supplementation.
The results are reported and published.

About Dr. Angus Nightingale
Dr Angus Nightingale is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Bristol Heart Institute and Clinical Senior Lecturer in Cardiology at the University of Bristol.
He originally trained in Cambridge before undertaking heart failure research in Cardiff, Oxford and Adelaide, Australia.
Dr Nightingale’s research focuses on why people have high blood pressure and some go on to develop heart failure. He has published over 35 scientific papers and is actively involved in clinical research and medical education.
He is currently working as Co-investigator at University of Bristol on the CORAL Study: The effectiveness and cost effectiveness of Coenzyme Q10 in Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (CORAL): a pragmatic, patient-centred, data-enabled trial in primary care.
