At Pharma Nord, we recognise and appreciate the difficulties and the pain which beset sufferers of fibromyalgia – that is why we are a keen supporter of the UK Fibromyalgia magazine and website. As well as an understanding of fibromyalgia, we also offer a range of products which can help sufferers to cope with their condition.
Our supplements are all made to strict pharmaceutical standards and are developed using a database of more than 9,000 scientific studies. The documented effectiveness and safety of our products has been a cornerstone of our success over more than 30 years of producing evidence-based supplements and preventative medicines.
When it comes to fibromyalgia, a number of our supplements are particularly suitable for various aspects of the condition. These include:
1. Bio-Quinone Q10
Fibromyalgia patients have been shown to have depleted tissue levels (up to 40-50% of normal) of CoQ10, a coenzyme which is vital to the production of energy in the body. In a number of clinical studies carried out using Pharma Nord’s Bio-Quinone Q10 supplements, fibromyalgia sufferers who took the supplements:
- saw pain and fatigue reduced by over 50%
- saw headaches significantly reduced
- saw oxidative stress levels reduced
- saw energy levels increased
- saw psychopathological symptoms including depression reduced
"It’s made such an amazing difference to my life"
“I’ve suffered from Fibromyalgia for about 30 years and was eventually diagnosed in 2002. It’s a condition which leaves me suffering from symptoms including headaches, poor sleep, widespread pain in the wrists, knees, ankles and back, general tiredness and a ‘fibro fog’ where your mind just stops for a few moments.
“I have been quite wary of taking any medication for my fibro in the past, and have been medication-free for a few years now. However, I saw some information about Pharma Nord Bio-Quinone Q10 in Fibromyalgia UK magazine and I thought it would be a great idea to try it as it’s exactly like the Q10 we naturally produce in the body.
“By the second week of taking Q10, I noticed a good improvement in my sleep and energy levels; by the third week, I was much more energetic and began to do some household jobs I had been putting off because of exhaustion and by the fourth week my pain levels had improved by 80% to 90%, I went on two long walks, I had much less fibro fog and I was sleeping like a baby for the first time in a long time.
“I have noticed no side effects at all, and I am so pleased with the results, I will take this supplement for as long as I can! It’s made such an amazing difference in my life.”

2. Bio-Vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 deficiency has been linked to muscle weakness and pain, as well as fatigue and sleep disturbance; the symptoms of vitamin D3 deficiency are therefore similar to those of fibromyalgia. A number of studies have demonstrated that a significant reduction in vitamin D3 levels is widespread in fibromyalgia patients and that deficiency of vitamin D3 correlates with the severity of fibromyalgia symptoms, typically muscle pain and depression. In a randomised placebo-controlled clinical trial, vitamin D-deficient fibromyalgia patients who took a daily vitamin D supplement reported a significant reduction in pain levels.
In addition, in a recent clinical study, vitamin D3-deficient fibromyalgia patients took daily vitamin D3 supplements for 12 weeks. At the end of the study, the patients reported a significant improvement in their quality of life.
3. Bio-Calcium D3+K1+K2
A number of clinical studies have shown patients with fibromyalgia are at increased risk of developing osteopenia – where the mineral density and strength of bones is less than normal – or osteoporosis, a more form of the condition in which bones are prone to fracture.
An adequate intake of calcium and magnesium is required to maintain healthy bone structure. However, calcium cannot be absorbed from the digestive tract without vitamin D3, and vitamin K is required to direct calcium to where it is required in the bones. A number of randomised controlled clinical trials have demonstrated a significant benefit of calcium, vitamin D3 and vitamin K combined on improving bone strength as well as improving cardiovascular health, another concern in fibromyalgia patients.
