Pharma Nord team continue Three Peaks training

Marketing Executive, Trevor Pill recalls the Pharma Nord team’s latest training walk and preparations as the Three Peaks Challenge looms closer.

It’s Saturday 30th May and that’s another training walk complete! This time Rasmus, Jill and myself were joined by Bent Henriksen, Managing Director of Pharma Nord UK, who himself completed the three peaks challenge a few years ago.

Our training walk began in Ambleside on Lake Windermere and we climbed out of the town to complete a walk called Fairfield Horseshoe. It took us just over 5 hours to do the 10.5 mile walk which we were really pleased with. Our legs were a little sore but no signs of stiffness the next day thanks to our Q10!

As we get closer to completing the challenge we need to stay fighting fit. Summer colds would make training difficult so we are doing everything we can to keep our immune system strong.

We are taking Bio-Vitamin D3, also known as the sunshine vitamin. Up to 50 per cent of UK adults are thought to be deficient.

Studies have shown that vitamin D may stimulate the body’s production of anti-viral and anti-bacterial proteins. Some experts say they would choose vitamin D before vitamin C when considering cold and flu protection.

Supplements also exist which combine beta 1,3/1,6 glucans, selenium and vitamin D3, all of which contribute to the normal function of the immune system. We’re taking Bio-Glucan Plus to strengthen our immunity.

We’re also thinking about the nutrients we need for energy and endurance. Bio-Carnitine and Bio-Quinone Active Q10 are top of our list.

Carnitine is an amino acid-like substance that is synthesized in the body and plays an important role in the metabolism of fat and energy production. Coenzyme Q10 is also needed by all our cells to produce energy and natural levels are depleted by intense physical activity.

Fuelled by these nutrients, we are well on our way to being ready for the challenge. Wish us luck!
